  • Wondering what people are saying about MissionFest Toronto?

Linda Nagel, Head of WEC Mobilization Department: All of our reps gave very positive feedback on the opportunities to talk with people who are interested in getting involved in Missions. Fifteen wrote their names on our sheet for further info and six of those responded to my follow-up letter. This is the best response we have seen in years. God is moving in lives and we are excited to help them move another step forward towards His harvest field.

Thank you for all the work you put into to making the event possible. It was well organized.

John P. Brown, Canadian Director:  Africa Inland Mission Canada has participated in MissionFest Toronto since its beginning.  We are committed to MissionFest Toronto because it is essential to show Canadians that all of us as mission organizations are working together to build the Kingdom—here in Canada and around the world.  But we also participate because MissionFest is so beneficial to us.  Many folks whose first encounter with AIM was at our conference centre booth have gone out to impact lives all over Africa.  Thanks MFT!

Charles Price, The Peoples Church:  ‘MissionFest is a wonderful opportunity for people all across the city of  Toronto to come and meet folks who are really on the job taking the gospel here and globally being inspired by that, because the natural default position of the church is to become maintenance, to become protective, to become concerned about our own well being rather than about the purpose for which churches have come into existence which is to take the gospel of Jesus Christ across the world.’

Dave Zetta, In Touch Ministries: ‘It’s an opportunity for us to meet with our supporters and build relationships. MissionFest is all about relationships. We can get to speak to them and find more about who they are.’

Charlie McCordic, The Evangelical Alliance Mission: ‘It’s a chance to be able to connect,..meet people that we would never meet any other way.’

Hany Boghossian,  MissionGTA: ‘The opportunity to connect with so many members of the Body of Christ where we can see the fostering of not only relationships, but what the mission and passion for God is doing today on the earth,…every year we see bridges being built, relationships being re-kindled, friendships being made and opportunities for serving, not only locally but globally, it’s phenomenal!’

Colin McCartney, Urban Promise Toronto: ‘You know it has been great to be able to see friends, a lot of these missionaries and mission organizations are all friends and we are all doing this for the kingdom of God, working together, and there’s different areas and ways to do ministry and so many different ministries that do it well. So to be able to join together as a family of God and get involved in different ways to do missions—that’s what MissionFest is all about.’

  • At MissionFest this year during the youth event with Brett Ullman, I was educated, informed and grateful for the information that he had to share. He spoke with such honesty, vulnerability and expertise on a topic that I personally feel has helped me to understand and deal with similar issues in my family. To my surprise one week later I received a phone call from a friend whose daughter had cut herself and would not have had the contact and language to help this Christian family deal with this traumatic situation. There are many people like myself that have their mission field close to home and our youth are a great opportunity for evangelism and to help spread the message. The youth night at MissionFest is a great avenue to reach and teach a large number of teens and their youth leaders on topics and messages that are relevant to present day realities.   Thank you MissionFest for your brave choice.

...thank you for another amazing MissionFest! … From the interviews to the Nema Children's Choir to the Ratanak workshop, Danny MacKay, plenary sessions, conversations with exhibitors, Cassatta Cake and flat out FELLOWSHIP with God's people ...it was a wonderful 3 days I (and we - Mary, Steve-o, Michael and the gang)) will never forget!
    - Neil Boron, Executive Producer/ Host, WDCX FM

We thank you for opening the MissionFest door, upon which we were able to stand on for other doors to open! We appreciate you and your organization and pray that as we grow and become better organized so will our relationship! The children have you and your organization on their prayer list!
    - Daisy Kayongo, Nema Children’s Choir Coordinator

I wanted to write you and take the time to say that I had the most amazing time ever at MissionFest! It was truly a blessing; it was so uplifting and encouraging! It was really moving for me, and the voice of God spoke clearly and with such an impact. It was my first MissionFest, and it will certainly not be my last. If God permits I am looking forward to next year’s MissionFest, and would actually love to volunteer if possible.
What you and the team do for MissionFest is incredible and I know that it touches the lives of so many people. I am so blessed that God opened my heart and revealed MissionFest to me through the internet. It was amazing how everything worked out. I met new friends, and was ministered to through the awesome seminars!!!!

  • Exhibitor: ‘It’s just those one-on-one conversations with people that the Lord directs and you can tell it’s a God thing. The right people come by at the right time with the right words. It’s a mutual source of encouragement. And I believe it is important to let people know what the Lord is doing and how He’s at work.’

Jaychelle, Attendee from Brampton: ‘It’s my second time here at MissionFest, the first time when I was very very young, now I am here as an adult and blown away by all the different Christian organizations coming together. To me that’s a blessing seeing the Body of God uniting together for the same cause. No matter how many different faces and different individual causes, it’s all under one umbrella.’

Ron Pearce, Speaker/Exhibitor: ‘It’s not a matter that all these booths that are set up here are in competition. No. We’re working together as Specialists in the field to take the Gospel all around the World. And it’s just great to be a part of this and to encourage the people of Canada that missions is working.’

Peggy Kennedy, Two Silver Trumpets: ‘MissionFest is a strategic time for freshly focusing the "eyes" of the Church on the harvest field!  In the Greater Toronto Area the nations have gathered.  As a community of nations the call to the nations is more than "obvious", it is critical in this hour of the Lord's global harvest plan!  MissionFest brings us together to see (and celebrate!) the task that can only be accomplished together!’

Pastor Brendan & Sharon Witton: At ‘Church Without Limits’ we are firm believers that the Lord “delights in the prosperity of His servant” (Ps.35:27).  We believe that you are good ground and we trust that this seed will be a blessing to you and your ministry. We are honoured to continue to work alongside you to see God’s will established in the Greater Toronto Area and to the ends of the earth.

Marguerite Morrison, Oakwood Baptist Church: ‘I wanted to thank the MissionFest organizers for the great day our Oakwood Baptist children's group experienced at Mission Fest.  The adults who attended with them were also blessed and doubly blessed to be able to attend some of the booths and the event in the sanctuary as well due to the way the children’s programs were organized.’

Brian C. Stiller: MissionFest we need! In a postmodern age of heightened self-interest, the church needs the kind of creative drive and Spirit boldness that MissionFest provides. I praise God for their gifts of vision and leadership.

Rev.Vincent Lee, Miliken Chinese Community Church: ‘We as a church really appreciate your ministry.  May the blessings of God be multiplied in many fold for your ministry in MissionFest 2008 and beyond.’

Robert Melnichuk, Crossroads @ Work: (speaks on how MissionFest can shape someone’s life) ‘If you come to MissionFest and hear the challenges that come through the plenary speaker, even the workshops, God speaks in incredible, unusual ways where the message is life-changing in the fact that we are all called to a mission in a mission field. When you are sitting in a seminar…there is a realization that this person is speaking life. I could be going in one track and all of sudden recognize that you know what, I’m going down the wrong road and God wants me to make a revolutionary change, it’s a calling, but not necessarily a calling to go to Africa, it can be a calling to transition my vocation and put me in a place where my giftings, my talents and abilities can be simply used to further God’s kingdom.’

  •  I just wanted to say THANK YOU for the opportunity to speak today... MissionFest was amazing… I will definitely attend next year’s weekend and I'll be bringing lots of friends.

Regarding the Gospel Nite at MissionFest 2010:
What a wonderful evening of worship and celebration!  I trust that those in attendance were as encouraged as I was to deliver songs with the celebration message of the Gospel.
    Marlene O’Neill, Gospel Artist

Holy ground indeed, Holy Spirit raining down on all who were there, a Holy moment with a Holy God!... there was such a unity of spirit and oneness of heart. I will treasure that as I feel God gave us a very special gift that morning. It was such a privilege to see so many hungry sisters wanting to know the call He has on their lives and for Him to meet us right at our point of need.
Lisa Cheong, speaker at Women’s Forum, Ratanak Foundation

It was my first MissionFest, and I was so thrilled to see the family of God come together and share their passion for reaching out around the world - and unified in desiring to share Jesus’ message of hope and salvation. What a breath of fresh air!
    Ryan Resmer, Toronto Celebration Church

Great job on MissionFest last week.  It was interesting again to hear George (Verwer) and Tony (Fernandez).  The use of the church made it quite intimate and the workshop I conducted was full.  The people were very responsive.  Your work in MissionFest is not in vain.  Many people were impacted by MissionFest.  This got me to think about why we have MissionFest.  I don't know if this is the case, but to me MissionFest exists to co-ordinate churches working together to share the vision of spreading the gospel in our world.
Rev. Dr. Kai Mark, Unionville Oasis

I want to say THANK YOU for a wonderful MISSIONFEST Event this past April 16-18. I loved it! I attend every year and really enjoy the seminars, speakers and the exhibits. I agree with what George Verwer said: That MissionFest is probably 10x more strategic an event than we even comprehend. I was so blessed by this event that I would like to volunteer to help you promote this event or help out wherever I can.
    Tracey Hanson

I wanted to thank the MissionFest organizers for the great day our Oakwood Baptist children's group experienced at Mission Fest.  The adults who attended with them were also blessed and doubly blessed to be able to attend some of the booths and the event in the sanctuary… due to the way the children’s programs were organized.
    Marguerite Morrison, Oakwood Baptist church

It was a great experience and I personally had some great opportunities to meet some great people as well as seeing God work in some amazing ways!
    Matt Poulsen, Relevant Worship

I was able to attend MissionFest on the Saturday and loved the smaller venue. It seemed very busy, but I ran into more people I know! The workshops I attended were just what I needed. Thank you for all your work.
Charlene de Hann, Executive Director CAM International

  • Gabrielle Smith, Mississauga,ON: ‘This year was my first year attending and I was astounded by the level of professionalism, engagement and excellence of the organizations exhibiting at the event. The most compelling and eventful part of the event for me had to be the personal interactions, dialogues and prayers of a couple of the exhibitors. I felt on many levels this was a God orchestrated set up to release me into missions. This was never an area of ministry that I had ever considered in the past.  There was much thought provoking conversations about how I could get involved as an individual for local and international initiatives to get involved in Jesus' great commission to make disciples of the nations!’

Emily Chau, Pre-School Coordinator: ‘9 little kids accepted Christ in preschooler program.’

Paul Estabrooks, Open Doors: ‘MissionFest is a great opportunity to impact many people who have never heard (about the persecuted church).’

Lisa Cheong, Ratanak Foundation: “It encouraged me to see how God is moving in people's lives as a result of MissionFest. I have already been invited to speak at 2 churches in April on the subject of child sex slavery as a result of the exposure at MissionFest so I thank God and Praise Him for what He is doing as He opens these doors but I also thank Him for you and your team for giving us the opportunity."

Kim Evans, InterVarsity/Urbana: ‘God uses places like MissionFest to encounter someone and provide opportunities for life-changing choices.’

Ravi Zacharias, Speaker: ‘I want you to know that there are ideas that are being presented here that are shaping individual lives and the song of the Holy Spirit is being sung right here. Your life could be changed by maybe one thought, one verse, one message, and the impact could be exponential as it not only transforms your life but God through you transforming many others. And then as you listen to the voice of the Holy Spirit wooing you, convicting you, propelling you, emboldening you, to do the work to which He has called you. I’ve been an itinerant now for 33 years, I’ve learned something from listening to others. Find out what God is doing and where He is doing it, and get in on that task. I promise you if you come here with an open heart, you will consider it a defining moment for your life. It is just wonderful to have just got a little window and a glimpse of what God is doing and will continue to do.’

Fellowship of Christian Farmers: ‘Most people that came to see us knew Jesus, but were totally unaware of how they could use tools to help them present the Gospel.  People were awakened to evangelize.’

Attendee: (about ONE Life Experience exhibit) ‘Yesterday I went to the village, the African Village. That was really heart wrenching. To know what these children go through. And my heart was really touched. And I really want to do something about it.’

Marva Tyndale, Real Identity Discovery Ministries: ‘Being involved with MissionFest provides a phenomenal opportunity to participate in the many expressions of God's heartbeat for His sons and daughters, for the generations, and for the lost.  It also keeps me connected to what's happening in the Christian community at large.  One encounter with MissionFest and a person's passion for the Kingdom is ignited and enlarged for good!’

  • I just want to let you know that you and your team did a great job in managing and conducting the Mission Fest 2010. I was volunteering with Martha and I was blessed with the whole experience and would love to be a part of Mission Fest 2011.
    Densil  Premkumar, MFT Volunteer

Thanks to you, and all the MissionFest staff and volunteers. We know its hard work, but we also know that you pray as you organize, plan and make decisions. So there's the answer to the prayers of God's people, as we all were praying too! We all were really blessed with the whole event and challenged by Tony's message.
Pastor Carmina Perez, Broadview Church, Inglesia Evangelica Hispana
    Young Leader/Missionary

I have been attending MissionFest for the past 5 years now. The first message that God used to speak to me was about the call from Loren Cunningham in 2005. As a very active youth leader in my church and going into full-time ministry as a Youth worker with a local para-church organization, I was apprehensive, asking myself “Is this really what you want me to do God”?

There was a clear confirmation that I was in a good place, my call at that time was “to build and to plant” after-school ministry programs in local elementary and high schools in North Etobicoke. MissionFest provided for me a safe haven, a place where I can come to be spiritually fed, nurtured and cared for as a ministry worker, this feeling of belonging has brought me back time and time again.

At the beginning of the year, I started to transition out of full-time ministry, not knowing where I would be going next, maybe back to the secular field, or higher education.

One night I heard the Holy Spirit utter into my being “I am not done with you yet”. Could it be Him again, could it be God re-stating my original call to go….?

A dear friend Carol Decampos (Tsang) referred me to a mission organization that takes teams of young people all over the world; God used her to recruit me as a leader. This year was a very special MFT, because my call is clear and the theme was “Called…According to His Purpose”.

I felt like I was being commissioned at MissionFest, as I stood proud beside Canadian coordinators, Shirley and Dave Charron of Teen Missions International. My next assignment is to co-lead a dance/step teen team to Zambia, Africa this summer. Our team will minister to HIV/Aid’s orphans. What an honour and privilege to be drafted in the Lord’s Army.

I would like to thank the MissionFest team, volunteers, and supporters who keep the vision alive. More young people are heading into missions, as a result of it, and I pray that they will continue to be mentored and equipped to be God’s Ambassadors to the nations.
